The Athletes’ Commission wishes to thank all present and past elite athletes that attended the meeting (in person or online) on Tuesday, August 8 held at the Wildey Gymnasium. The Commission intends to continue the dialogue and keep the channels of communications open for all athletes to have their voices heard.
There was great progress made at the meeting and Interim Chairman of the Commission Martyn Forde made a call for all athletes to get together. “We are trying to create a new narrative for the athletes in Barbados because we have Japan 2020 Olympics coming up and even beyond this. This is a time for us to rebrand and create a story but in order to do that we need to have the athletes voice represented to the Olympic Association and also to the IOC and other sporting bodies” he said.
The first order of business will be to approve the Athlete Commission Charter then proceed with the voting for the Commission Members and its representative to sit on the BOA board once ratified by the BOA General Body.
We also call on all eligible athletes to submit your contact information to the BOA so we can continue to build our comprehensive database. To do so email email@example.com.
