In recent times there have been several international, and now local incidents that have challenged sporting values with regards to inclusion, diversity, and gender equality. The Barbados Olympic Association Inc. as a leader in sports development on the island thus finds it necessary to publicly state its position on this matter.
The BOA rejects discrimination of any form. We stand behind the statement made by the International Olympic Committee on February 9, 2021, in which the commitment to the Olympic mission to encourage and support the promotion of women in sport at all levels and in all structures, as stated in the Olympic Charter was noted. We encourage all national federations to be vigilant and to stamp out discrimination wherever it might occur in their organizations. The BOA will continue to promote and inspire diversity through its Sports for All programs and its Women in Sport Commission.
