Bridgetown Burning International Wushu Sanda Athlete Feature – Bruce Tran

Bruce Tran is an avid martial artist who has trained and excelled in many disciplines throughout his life. Starting at the age of 5, he studied Tae Kwon Do for 7 years, in which he attained his Red Belt rank. Since 2001, he has studied Mi Zong Luo Han and Sanda under Sifu Greg Louie and Sifu Alex Kwok. Bruce has trained in many parts of the world, with other disciplines including: Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Sport Karate sparring, Boxing and MMA. His training has taken him to eastern countries like China and Thailand where he trained in the roots of his respected Martial Arts.

In 2006 Bruce began as an assistant instructor to Sifu Greg. Bruce started instructing in 2008 and received his official Mi Zong Luo Han Instructor level in 2012. Bruce is also an accomplished competitor, and has been competing at the Black Belt level, since 2006, at open tournaments in forms and Sport Karate sparring divisions. Bruce has also faced many opponents in the ring (Kickboxing, Muay Thai, and MMA) with a fight record of 9W 5L.

Bruce is a 6 time Sanda Canadian National Champion, and has represented Canada at the World Wushu Championships for those respective years (Macau, Vietnam, Toronto, Turkey, Malaysia, Indonesia). Bruce has competed in over 75 tournaments worldwide, but still finds time to coach and mentor athletes for local and international competitions.
