Kendia Brathwaite – Programme Officer

Kendia has blended academics with sport and continues to showcase the importance of approaching sport professionally, while making sound science-driven decisions. Being a true sportswoman at heart, Kendia has competed in a variety of sports including netball, volleyball, and track and field with Segway polo being the newest addition.

With a previous fulfilling career in Rehabilitation Therapy Technology, she has always indirectly been involved in sport at all levels. Kendia has been the athlete, support staff and presently an educator, giving of her knowledge to students at the University of the West Indies as a part-time lecturer in the Academy of Sport.
In addition to being a member of the athlete support staff she has been the strength & conditioning coach for the 2018-2019 Barbados Senior Volleyball Women’s team which became a regional bronze medal holder.

Among her many academic achievements, Kendia holds a Bachelors in Sport Science (Exercise Science) going on to further gaining her Masters from the University of the West Indies and University of New Brunswick.

One of Kendia’s most outstanding accomplishments has been earning her Post Graduate diploma from the International Olympic Academy. This Post Graduate diploma in Olympic Studies has also allowed her to become published in the IOA participants’ journal of 2018 for her paper entitled “The Mirror Image: The Female Athlete as A Role Model”.
