Orson Simpson is the Treasurer of the Barbados Olympic Association having been elected to the position in 2017.
Prior to that he accepted the invitation from the Board of Directors to volunteer as its Financial Advisor. This close-up view of the operations of the BOA allowed him to accept the encouragement to offer himself as Treasurer when the position became vacant.
Mr. Simpson is an experienced Sports Administrator and has served various sporting disciplines locally and regionally. Some of the posts held include being the, Treasurer of the Barbados Cricket Association, President of Pickwick Cricket Club, Vice-President of the Barbados Squash Association, Treasurer of the Caribbean Squash Association, Director of the National Sports Council and Chef de Mission of the Barbados contingent to the PanAm Games.
He also serves the BOA as Chairman of the Finance and Audit Commission, Chairman of the Capital Works Commission, Member of the Administration Commission and Member of the Allocations & Funding Commission.
He is a highly respected senior squash referee in the Caribbean since attaining the distinction of being the first person to reach the level of National (A – Level) Referee in the Caribbean. He has served as the Tournament Referee at various Caribbean Tournaments and has officiated at multiple World Team Championships, the Commonwealth Games, Pan Am Games, CAC Games and Caribbean Championships.
In addition to being an Administrator he is actively involved in playing squash and is his age-group National Champion.
He also volunteers his services to other charitable organizations since he believes in giving back to his beloved country. Learning to play the guitar is a recent means of further recreation.
Professionally, Mr. Simpson is a Chartered Accountant. He conducts workshops in the CPA Professional Education Program, serves on the Board of Directors for some companies in the business sector and provides Financial, Accounting and Strategic Management services to a group of clients.
