Applications are now open for the 2024-2025 International Coaching Enrichment Certificate Program (ICECP), and the Barbados Olympic Association Inc. (BOA) is inviting National Federations (NFs) to recommend coaches for an Olympic Solidarity (OS) Scholarship to pursue this course of study.

The ICECP is a highly advanced coaching education course that is jointly offered by the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee, Olympic Solidarity, and the University of Delaware. Through the programme, participants have a unique learning opportunity to gain knowledge and guidance from the world’s top coaches and experts in various fields. The main goal of the ICECP is to equip the participants with essential skills and knowledge to become successful coaches in their respective sports and foundation builders for future coaches and athletes while also spreading the Olympic spirit.

Director of the National Olympic Academy, Vaneisha Cadogan, explained that the OS scholarship is intended for coaches from sports and disciplines within the Olympic programme who are looking to hone their skills and knowledge to better serve their countries and sports. She added that they are making a special appeal to NFs to encourage female coaches to apply.

She added, “Opportunities like these can assist with the growth of sport in our country. We, therefore, encourage the National Federations to spread the word about the ICECP among their coaches and encourage all eligible individuals to apply. In particular, we want to see female coaches apply, as they have been underrepresented in these programmes.”

The BOA will recommend one candidate for the Olympic Solidarity scholarship. Interested coaches should submit their applications no later than Monday, February 5, 2024, to the Director, National Olympic Academy, at vdcadogan@olympic.org.bb and copied to info@olympic.org.bb. Applications should comprise a cover letter and curriculum vitae. Along with these documents, a letter of support from their NF, explaining why they are recommending the coach for the scholarship and how the coach’s participation in the programme will benefit the sport, is required. Candidates should also be prepared to attend an online interview on Friday, February 9, 2024.
