Barbados Represented At Commonwealth Sports Forum

The Barbados Olympic Association, Inc. recently participated in Commonwealth Games Federation Meetings held in Edmonton, Alberta.

The BOA was represented by President Steve Stoute, Secretary General Erskine Simmons and General Manager Glyne Clarke. BOA Director, Sandra Osborne was present in her capacity as Legal Advisor to the CGF and Sir Austin Sealy in his capacity as Honorary Life Vice President.

Over three days, the meetings examined various aspects of the Commonwealth Games Sports Movement and were attended by the Vice Patron, His Royal Highness Prince Edward.

An inaugural sports forum was held during the course of the meetings. The forum was addressed by Baroness Scotland, Secretary General of the Commonwealth. The Canadian Federal Minister of Sport also spoke at the proceedings.

There were presentations by the host city of the next Commonwealth Games, scheduled for the Gold Coast, Australia during 2018. The 2022 Commonwealth Games are slated for Durban, South Africa and this will be the first time the Games will be held on African soil.
