BOA Celebrates International Day of Sport for Development & Peace 2022

The BOA invites Barbadians to join us today, April 6, to celebrate the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace (IDSDP). Since 2014, sports federations worldwide have marked April 6 as the day to recognise the positive role sport plays in promoting social inclusion, dialogue, youth development and peace.

The UN General Assembly’s declaration in 2013 to commemorate this day showed its confidence in the transformative power of sport in our societies. The BOA is encouraging all our stakeholders and Barbadians generally to support the goals of IDSDP and raise your white card for peace.

A white card symbolises the positive power of sport for peace and social inclusion. Remember to take a photo of yourself holding up a #WhiteCard, share it on social media and tag us @Olympicbb. #IDSDP2022 #PeaceandSport #Sport4Community #TeamBarbadosIn addition, we will be officially celebrating IDSDP on Saturday, April 9 at the Checker Hall Playing Field, St. Lucy from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. under the theme ‘Sport 4 Community’.
