The Barbados Olympic Association Inc. (BOA) is saddened to learn of the passing of
Paul Bourne, the President of the Barbados Surfing Association (BSA).
Paul was a highly respected member of the surfing community and the BSA. He first became
president of the BSA in 2005 and served in this role several times since then, including the last
four years. During his tenure, he mentored many surfers and was the driving force behind the
staging of the Independence Pro Surfing Championships, now known as the TSL National
Championship and TSL Independence Pro.
In addition to being a talented surfer, Paul was known for his exceptional contribution to
motorsport, a sport he was involved in for many years. On the racing circuit, his
remarkable driving skills earned him numerous victories.
The Board of the BOA joins the local sporting fraternity in mourning the loss of a stalwart. We
extend sincere condolences to his wife, Megan, children Ashley and Lance, and the
members of the Barbados Surfing Association.
