The National Olympic Academy (NOA) of Barbados will hold another Coaches Community of Learning (CCOL) seminar on Tuesday, March 26, 2024.
Coach Jamal Grosvenor will deliver the second instalment of CCOL, which is a platform for coaches to share and learn from each other. The upcoming seminar, themed ‘Periodization Made Simple’, will be held at the Barbados Olympic Centre.
Coach Grosvenor received an Olympic Solidarity Scholarship to complete the International Support Program for African and Caribbean Sport (PAISAC) in 2022. PAISAC offers Applied Sport Sciences training to individuals interested in gaining a comprehensive understanding of various aspects of sports practice. The training teaches coaches how to successfully plan training sessions for their athletes through a combination of theory and practice. By the end of the course, coaches are equipped with the necessary skills to develop tailored training plans which are intended to improve athlete performance and success.
Grosvenor, who is a coach with the Athletics Association of Barbados and a Physical Education teacher at The Lodge School, will share the knowledge and techniques he has gained from PAISAC with fellow coaches. The two-hour session commences at 6 p.m.
The NOA director, Vaneisha Cadogan, said the Academy remains committed to providing a constructive and collaborative learning experience for local coaches. “We are excited to have Coach Grosvenor join us for an engaging and insightful session. He will share his expertise on planning training sessions effectively to avoid overtraining, which can significantly impact an athlete’s performance.”
