Barbados is proud to announce that the Nanjing Youth Olympic Games 2014 team has been selected. Barbados will be represented by 8 athletes who have worked tremendously hard to achieve this milestone. The athletes selected are Michael Nicholas, Revaldo Leacock, Sade Williams, Ramarco Thompson and Tristan Evelyn in athletics and Hannah Gill, Zabrina Holder and Christian Selby in swimming. The Youth Olympic Games is scheduled to be held in Nanjing, China from August 16 to 28 this year. The team will be accompanied by Chef de Mission Glyne Clarke, Youth Ambassador, Ryan Brathwaite, coaches Niskkisha Maynard and Abdul Sharif. Dr. Rene Best will be the team doctor. While at the Youth Olympic Games athletes are expected to take part in a number of Cultural Exchange activities designed to expose young athletes to the different cultures around the world, as well as fun educational activities. Among the activities will be Careers in Sport, Fair Play, Music for Stress Relief and Healthy Cooking. These activities are geared towards the overall development of the athlete. The 3rd Youth Olympic Games will be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2018.
