(BOA) has ratified the final delegation to represent Barbados at the Pan American Games in Lima Peru from July 24 \u2013 August 11, 2019.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;Secretary-General of the BOA and Chairman of the Technical Commission, Erskine Simmons said that he was pleased with the due diligence of the National Federations in their effort to develop and put forward the best athletes who have met the qualifying criteria in their sports. He also commended the athletes for meeting the qualifying mark which in some cases was set beyond what was required by the Games, to boost the athletes\u2019 competitiveness.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chelsea Tuach, making her first multi-sport Games debut in the sport of Surfing, has been selected to be the flag bearer due to her outstanding performances so far for the year.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 53-person delegation is led by Chef de Mission, Orson Simpson who is being assisted by Gail Craig- Archer.&nbsp;&nbsp;Barbados will be represented in 12 sports featuring the following athletes: Aquatics \u2013 Alex Sobers, Luis Sebastian Weekes, Jack Kirby and Danielle Titus; Athletics \u2013 Sonia Gaskin, Tia- Adana Belle, Sade Sealy, Sada Williams, Shane Brathwaite, Jonathon Jones, Mario Burke, Greggmar Swift, Tristan Evelyn and Ariel Jackman; Badminton \u2013 Damien Howell, Dakeil Thorpe, Sabrina Scott, and Tamisha Williams;&nbsp;&nbsp;Cycling \u2013 Amber Joseph; Equestrian \u2013 Roberta Foster; Golf- Emily Odwin; Sailing \u2013 Amy Cox; Surfing \u2013 Chelsea Tuach;&nbsp;&nbsp;Shooting \u2013 Justin St. John, Michelle Elliott and Michael Maskell; Taekwondo \u2013 Askia Alleyne; Tennis \u2013 Darian King, Haydn Lewis and Seanon Williams, and Triathlon \u2013 Matthew Wright.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The officials are&nbsp;Darny Hernandez \u2013 Aquatics, Bryan Holder \u2013 Athletics, Athelstone Forde \u2013 Badminton, Livingstone Headley and Peter Georgi \u2013 Cycling, Jan Brons, Nicole Baergen, Sally Moehring and Gina Hunte \u2013 Equestrian, Denis Foster \u2013 Golf, Penny McIntyre \u2013 Sailing, Margot Tuach \u2013 Surfing, Henderson Turton \u2013 Taekwondo, Damien Alleyne- Tennis, and Luke Watson \u2013 Triathlon.&nbsp;&nbsp;The medical team comprises Carl Ward, Ingrid Burrowes, Alicia Brewster, and Stephen Scott.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among the officials this year are two journalists, Kenmore Bynoe from the Nation Publishing Co. Limited and Anne Marie Burke from the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation. This is a Pan Am Games initiative where these two journalists were selected from each of the 41 participating countries to cover the Games.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2015 Barbados won three medals at the Pan Am Games in Toronto.&nbsp;&nbsp;Ramon Gittens won a silver medal in the 100m, while Shane Brathwaite and Akela Jones won bronze medals in the 110m hurdles and the high jump respectively.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Technical Commission of the Barbados Olympic Association Inc.
