COMMONWEALTH GAMES in 2014
The Commonwealth Games (known as the British Empire Games) were first held in 1930 in Hamilton, Canada with 400 athletes from eleven (11) participating countries for six sports and 59 events.
The games are held every four (4) years. In 1930 to 1950 the Games were known as the British Empire Games and from 1954 until 1966 were rebranded to the British Empire & Commonwealth Games. Today, they are known as simply the Commonwealth Games or the “Friendly Games”. Glasgow (Scotland) was awarded the right to host the 2014 Commonwealth Games. Since inception, the amount of participating countries has increased from 11 to 71 countries.

Upcoming Commonwealth Games In 2018
In 2018 the Commonwealth Games will be held in Queensland Gold Coast City, Australia. From 4th – 15th April, 2018 athletes will be competing at the Gold Coast’s Carrara Stadium. Different sports will be held at various locations around the Carrara Stadium.
