The first of two International Coach Certification Clinics, which are being held through a collaborative initiative between the Barbados Olympic Association Inc and the Coaching Association of Canada, will take place at the Wildey Gymnasium from June 26 to 28.
The National Coaching Certification Program-NCCP Level 1 Certification Clinic will be led by two Canadian Instructors; Mr Ron Weese and Mr M Loughlin.
The Level 1 Certification Clinic offers a pathway to a coaching career for those individuals who might be interested in choosing coaching as a vocation or career. Fifty-five coaches have enrolled in the first Clinic which will start on Friday June 26.
Among the range of sports which will be represented at the clinic are:

- Badminton
- Combat Sports
- Cycling
- Hockey
- Netball
- Rugby
- Sailing
- Table Tennis
- Tennis
- Volleyball
The 18 hour Coaching Course will be timetabled as follows:
Friday 26 June – 2.00 pm to 8.00pm
Saturday 27 June – 9.30 am to 5.30 pm
Sunday 28 June – 9.30 am to 4.30 pm
Coaches must attend all sessions in order to be eligible to receive certification.
The second Level 1 Coaching Clinic will be held at the Sir Hugh Springer Auditorium at the Barbados Workers Union from 17 to 19 July. The timetable to be followed is similar to that of the first Clinic:
Friday 17 July – 2.00pm to 8.00pm
Saturday 18 July – 9.30 am to 5.30 pm
Sunday 19 July – 9.30 am to 4.30 pm
Coaches must attend all sessions in order to be eligible to receive certification.
Coaches who are desirous of enrolling in the second clinic are asked to contact Dave Farmer at the Barbados Olympic Association Inc.
Plans are being formulated to schedule Level 2 Coaching Courses in 2016, which will facilitate those coaches who have succeeded in Level 1 to continue their certification.
