The International Olympic Academy (IOA) will convene the 61st International Session for Young Participants in Greece from 11 to 21 September 2021. The main topic for the IOA Sessions for 2021 is “Olympic Movement and the Pandemic”, while the special topic for the Young Participants Session will be “Olympic Games and the Pandemic: Opportunities, Challenges and Changes”.
The Barbados Olympic Association Inc. (BOA) will support the attendance of one participant. National Federations are invited to nominate one person for consideration. Nominees should be between 20 and 35 years of age and should have a genuine interest in the educational aspects of the activities organized in the course of the Session. Persons who have previously attended an Annual Session for Young Participants of the IOA are not eligible to apply.
The IOA is committed to organizing safe sessions, and so they are taking all the necessary measures and precautions to guarantee the safety of all participants. To this end, only delegates who are fully vaccinated will be accepted to the Sessions, and applicants should provide a certificate of vaccination upon their registration on the IOA online platform.
At the IOA premises, all participants will be accommodated in single rooms and social distancing, ventilation, sterilization and other preventive measures will be employed in order to ensure safety.
The IOA has informed that, if circumstances do not allow for the Sessions at the IOA premises, they will move them to the online platform. A revised document will be shared with new information such as the dates of the Sessions, application process and terms of participation.
Interested applicants are required to submit the following:
- Curriculum vitae;
- Motivational letter, describing their involvement in sport and explaining their interest in attending the Session;
- Copy of birth certificate;
- Letter of endorsement from the National Federation;
- Certificate of vaccination against COVID-19.
Applications should be sent to the Director, National Olympic Academy, at vdcadogan@olympic.org.bb, and copied to info@olympic.org.bb, no later than Friday, 25 June 2021.
A selected number of applicants will be invited to attend an interview on Friday, 02 July 2021. The candidate to be recommended to IOA will be identified after the interview process.
