The Local Organising Committee for the 2018 Mitsubishi Electric Rugby Barbados World 7s (MERBW7s) has today announced tickets for the upcoming Rugby Tournament are now officially on sale via TicketPal.com and at local TicketPal outlets. Over the weekend of 8th and 9th December, some of the best Men’s and Women’s Club Rugby teams from across the globe will make the trip to Barbados to compete in the MERBW7s at the iconic Kensington Oval, with an impressive US$30,000 prize money up for grabs. Teams from Scotland, England, Wales, Canada and the USA, as well as French Guiana, Guadeloupe, St Lucia, and Trinidad have all registered for this year’s Tournament, which organisers hope will rival both the internationally-renowned Hong Kong Sevens and Dubai Sevens, especially in the Women’s Division.
It’s an exciting time for the highly-anticipated Tournament, with organisers also confirming that the Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association (BHTA) have come on board as official Tournament Partners and Republic Bank (Barbados) Limited as a Corporate Advertising Partner, adding to the ever-expanding list of local and international brands lending their support to the Tournament.
Keisha Belle, Republic Bank (Barbados) Limited Marketing Officer, Channels said the Bank was happy to support sports in Barbados. “With increasing opportunities for Sports Tourism and the continued development of sporting disciplines and venues to the point that they attract an international following, this Rugby Barbados Word 7s is a fillip to the sports calendar and the economy. We wish the organizers success and the patrons a wonderful experience in Barbados,” she said.
Manager of the MERBW7s Local Organising Committee, George Nicholson thanked all 2018 MERBW7s partners for their continued support and put the call out to potential partners to consider supporting the Tournament. “We are pleased to announce that the BHTA and Republic Bank (Barbados) Limited have recently joined our diverse array of MERBW7s Tournament partners and advertisers. This Tournament is a great opportunity for businesses and individuals to gain global exposure at a world-class sporting event and to help us to highlight the calibre of sports tourism in Barbados. It’s not too late for interested parties to contact us for more information on the variety of Tournament sponsorship, partnership, and advertising packages on offer,” he said.
Nicholson added that the great selection of affordable ticketing packages also means that the event, which is the longest running Club Rugby 7s Tournament in the Caribbean, will appeal to everybody; from families to partygoers, with the adults-only ‘Power X4 Party Stand’, to locals and tourists looking for a day (or two) of fun and fierce competition.
Prices for daily general admission to the 3Ws Stand range from US$1 for children 10 years and under, US$5 for children 18 years and under to US$20 for adults. The Tournament also boasts a fantastic party experience for spectators in the Power X4 Party Stand for US$30 per day including a US$10 drinks voucher, as well as Corporate Hospitality packages with access to private box seating.
