Alleyne Pursuing World Sailing Training Scholarship Programme

After a three-year break, the World Sailing Training Scholarship is back this year. Barbadian sailing instructor Che Alleyne is one of nine coaches currently in Weymouth, United Kingdom, for a seven-week residential course, which started on September 1, 2022.

Alleyne’s attendance at the programme is being funded by Olympic Solidarity. Through the World Sailing Training Scholarship, he and the other eight coaches, who hail from Dominican Republic, Egypt, El Salvador, Greece, Indonesia, Israel, Peru and Slovakia, are expected to enhance their sailing skills and knowledge regarding the management of national sailing training programmes in their respective countries.

Each coach will pursue Levels 1, 2 and 3 of the World Sailing’s Technical Courses for Coaches and explore a variety of sailing disciplines, including windsurfing, keelboats and parasailing. Additionally, when the World Sailing Training Scholarship Programme comes to a close on October 19, 2022 they are expected to have improved their practical skills in powerboat handling and safety, as well as in such areas as anti-doping education and first aid.
