Barbados’ Junior Wrestlers off to the UWW Americas Cadet & Junior Championships

Today five of Barbados’ junior wrestlers left the island bound for Mexico to compete in the UWW Americas Cadet & Junior Championships.

The Barbados Olympic Association Inc. is proud to support the Barbados Wrestling Association for this competition which is a qualifier for the Cali 2021 Junior Panam Games to be held in November this year. 

The athletes, some of whom are from the YouthAdvance Corps programme, are Shavere Tempro, Keon Sobers, Makayla Browne, Deshon Skeete and Adrian Maynard.  Along with them are coach, Yaima Payne and team manager, Ronald Phillips.

Seeing the team off at the Grantley Adams International Airport were: Minister of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment- Dwight Sutherland, Glyne Clarke – General Manager, BOA, Devon Chase – Manager Sports – BTMI, Cleviston Hunte – Director of Youth- Ministry of Youth and Community Empowerment, Hally Haynes – Director – Barbados Youth ADVANCE Corps, and Officials from Barbados YouthAdvance Corps.
