The BOA’s Board Pays Tribute to Former Treasurer John Griffith

It is with much sadness and regret that The Barbados Olympic Association (BOA) Inc. learnt of the death of our former Treasurer, John Griffith. John was elected to the BOA Executive Council as Treasurer in 2004 and retired in 2017. During his tenure with the BOA, he freely shared his financial expertise and established a number of accounting systems that are still in use today.

John was perhaps better known for his work in Volleyball.  A former Vice President of the Caribbean Zonal Volleyball Association and Treasurer of the North, Central American and Caribbean Volleyball Association, he also served as Internal Auditor of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB).  He was the longest serving President (1996 to 2018) of the Barbados Volleyball Association, which has already recounted his outstanding contribution to this Sport in its own tribute to John. We at the Barbados Olympic Association join Volleyball and the entire sporting fraternity in Barbados in mourning the passing of this outstanding and dedicated Sport Administrator.

The Barbados Olympic Movement has lost yet another icon and we extend sincere condolences to his wife, Carol, daughter, Erica, and the Barbados Volleyball Association.

May he rest in peace.
