BOA Pays Tribute to Olympian and Sports Icon Rawle Clarke

The Barbados Olympic Movement is in mourning over the death of one of our sport icons, Rawle Clarke, OLY.

One of Barbados’ top sprinters, Rawle was a member of the Barbados Team at the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games, competing in the 200 m and the 4 x 100 m relay.  He also reached the final in the 100 m Pan American Games in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1979.

Rawle also managed and coached a number of track and field teams for multi-sport games and was not only an excellent coach but a formidable administrator. Additionally, he served as the first coordinator of the National Senior Games and managed many successful teams competing in Senior Games internationally.

He will be sadly missed by the Barbados sporting community. The President and Board of the Barbados Olympic Association, Inc., extend sincere condolences to his family and many friends.
