Commonwealth Sport Barbados is proud to announce that eqUIP intern Kásahra Hinds has been selected to join the eqUIP Skills Academy for the upcoming Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games. Following a highly successful application process, Hinds has been officially assigned a key role as a Protocol Coordinator for the Games, scheduled to run from July 23 to August 2, 2026, in Glasgow, Scotland.
Hinds is one of just 15 participants in the eqUIP Skills Academy, and the sole representative from the Caribbean to join the programme. Applications were open to current and past eqUIP interns, offering a chance to build their skills by supporting various functional areas at a world-class sporting event. Serving as one of the Protocol Coordinators, she will help manage international delegate hospitality.
Sandra Osborne, President of Commonwealth Sport Barbados, said that they are proud of Hind’s selection for the programme, which she noted is designed to develop outstanding youth leaders through high-impact internship and employment opportunities.
“This year’s Games, and the number of Skills Academy participants, have been scaled down, therefore Kásahra’s selection is a testament to her hardwork and dedication. Commonwealth Sport Barbados has certainly benefitted from Kásahra’s work during her internship and we have absolute confidence that she will represent our organisation and Barbados with the utmost professionalism, enthusiasm, and pride,” said President Osborne.
Before departing for Glasgow, Hinds will engage in a structured online training programme delivered by a leading partner organisation to prepare her for the fast-paced environment of an international multi-sport event. The entire experience—including travel, accommodation, and educational programming—is fully funded through the Commonwealth Sport.
“I am incredibly excited and honored to have been selected for the eqUIP Skills Academy. I started my journey with eqUIP when I was appointed as the intern for Commonwealth Sport Barbados in 2025. That 18-month internship ends next month, and I can say without a doubt that it has been an amazing experience. I have learned a lot and I can’t wait to represent Barbados at the Glasgow Games, and more than anything, bring back all the knowledge and fresh ideas I pick up to help boost our local sporting community,” said Hinds.
The eqUIP programme serves as a cornerstone for leadership legacy among the network of 74 CGAs worldwide.
