The National Olympic Academy recently marked a significant milestone—its 20th anniversary—with an exciting and engaging series of events under the theme “Past to Present vs Future.” This occasion brought together students, sports enthusiasts, and key members of the local Olympic community to honour the Academy’s legacy while looking ahead to its future.
The celebration began with a special Open Day for the Boys’ Champions of NAPSAC 2025, featuring a tour of the Barbados Olympic Association Inc.’s (BOA) Olympic Museum. Students delved into Barbadian sporting history, exploring the achievements of past and present athletes within the Olympic movement.

The festivities continued with a dynamic presentation on the Esport movement’s history and future, delivered by Ricardo Knight, President of the Barbados Esports Initiative. This was followed by an exciting mini Esport tournament, where students stepped into roles as athletes, coaches, and commentators, fostering an interactive and immersive experience.
Physical Education teacher Roderick Harmon expressed heartfelt gratitude for the opportunity provided to his athletes and emphasised the significance of the Academy’s milestone celebration.

Adding to the jubilation, participants of the 2025 Sports Administrators Course donned the national colours, while engaged in spirited presentations on financial management, executive committee roles, and competition manipulation. Their interactive session was complemented by a festive atmosphere with decor, treats, and a shared moment singing “Happy Birthday” alongside the staff and BOA President Sandra Osborne. The event concluded with the ceremonial blowing out of candles on the anniversary cake, symbolising two decades of excellence and achievement.The Academy’s 20th anniversary celebration was a testament to its enduring journey, contributions to Barbadian sports, and promising future.
