The Barbados Olympic Association Inc. (BOA) is inviting National Federations to nominate outstanding young athletes for the Playground to Podium Youth Enrichment Camp (PPYEC) 2026, a transformative residential programme designed to prepare the next generation of Barbadian athletes for success on and off the field of play.
Key Camp Details
- Dates: August 11–20, 2026
- Location: Regional Police Training Centre, Paragon, Christ Church (Note: This is a residential camp)
- Target Age: 13–18 years old
PPYEC 2026 forms part of the BOA’s ongoing commitment to youth development, discipline and high-performance athlete preparation. Through an intensive and structured programme, participants will gain the knowledge, skills and mindset needed to excel in competitive sport while developing as confident, disciplined young leaders.
What Participants Will Gain
The comprehensive curriculum is tailored to prepare athletes for international standards, offering mentorship and engagement from experienced coaches, sport administrators, and former Olympians. Key focus areas include:
- Mental Toughness: Performance mindset training
- Life Skills: Enhance communication & presentation skills
- Health & Safety: Nutrition, wellness education, recovery skills, safe sport education.
NFs are encouraged to nominate athletes who have demonstrated strong potential for national and international representation, together with the commitment and discipline required to benefit from the programme.
The nomination deadline is Wednesday, July 29, 2026. NFs are invited to submit nominations for eligible athletes, ensuring that each submission includes all required supporting documents:
- Completed letter of recommendation
- Proof of age (birth certificate or valid identification)
- A brief athlete profile (including sporting achievements and goals)
NFs are reminded that all successful nominees are required to be insured under the BOA’s Accident Insurance Plan to participate in the programme.
