Team Barbados continued its Rio 2016 campaign over the weekend with Akela Jones, Ramon Gittens and Michael Maskell in action.
Michael Maskell competing in his fifth Olympic games performed very creditably in the Skeet competition placing 18th. Akela Jones appearing in her first but certainly not last Olympics, gave an admirable performance over the seven events of the Heptathlon finishing 20th. The 100m Hurdles and High Jump events in the Heptathlon saw her in superb form coming 2nd and 4th respectively. Ramon Gittens meanwhile placed 4th in Heat 8 of the 100m sprint to narrowly miss out on semi final qualification.
