BOA Strategic Plan

Our Strategic Plan
2025-2028

Our 2025-2028 Plan

As we advance the implementation of our strategic plan for the 2025–2028 Olympic quadrennium, The Barbados Olympic Association Inc. (BOA) views this period as a crucial phase of growth and transformation. This plan positions us to strengthen our institutions, support our athletes holistically, and expand the reach of sport nationwide.

In a changing local and global environment, the BOA must adapt, innovate, and lead. By working closely with our National Federations, athletes, partners, and regional and international counterparts, we will build a stronger, more inclusive sporting movement, one that honours our legacy while shaping a brighter future for Barbados through sport.

Strategic Pillars

Pillar 1: Driving Excellence, Igniting Passion

We aim to elevate athlete performance, increase our medal counts and the number of finalists at regional and international competitions.

Pillar 2: Transforming Lives Through Sport

We will use sport as a catalyst for participation and wellbeing, and to promote the Olympic Values and Gender Equality.

Pillar 3: Building Capacity

We will empower National Federations through institutional strengthening to help them achieve financial and technical sustainability.

Pillar 4: Shaping Our Future, Honouring Our Legacy

We will protect our heritage as we update our operations by expanding our revenue sources and strengthening our brand.

The BOA demonstrates strong governance practices, sound financial management, and a committed team. Opportunities for growth include establishing a formal risk management framework, enhancing procurement processes, improving communication, and modernising assets and technology.

Externally, the BOA operates within a national sporting landscape that is evolving amidst numerous challenges, including unclear national sports policies, undervaluation of sport, and global developments that threaten multi-sport events.

Our Environment

Good Governance

We are committed to maintaining ethical leadership and aligning with international standards. Our work supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals by leveraging sport to promote health, education, equality, and community development.

A Movement for All of Barbados

This strategic plan places athletes, communities, and partners at its core. By strengthening institutions, embracing innovation, and advancing Olympic values, we will build a movement that honours our legacy while shaping a bold and resilient future for sport in Barbados.
