Mr. Cameron Burke is the Assistant Secretary General of the Barbados Olympic Association being elected to this position in 2004. He was first elected to the Executive Committee of the Association in 1996 as a Director.
Before joining the BOA, Mr. Burke served as Honorary Secretary of the Barbados Hockey Federation for fourteen consecutive years, relinquishing that position in 2004 on his election to his current position with the BOA. The Assistant Secretary General is well known for his contribution to the development of hockey both locally and internationally. He was an international umpire during the period 1982 – 2002 before retiring as a Grade 1 international umpire at the 2002 Commonwealth Games, held in Manchester, England. Since his retirement, Mr. Burke continues to serve the sport as a Grade 2 Technical Official with the International Hockey Federation. He is also a member of the Competitions Committee of the Pan American Hockey Federation.
At the Barbados Olympic Association, Mr. Burke is an integral member of the Executive Committee, and is well versed in the operations of the Olympic Solidarity Commission of the International Olympic Committee. He serves as the Chairman of the BOA’s Olympic Solidarity and Pan American Sports Organization Committee, which manages the distribution of international funding to athletes and technical assistance to the local National Federations. Mr. Burke, who will be the Chef de Mission of the Barbados team to the 2012 London Olympic Games, has served the Barbados Olympic Association in that capacity at all major game since 2002.
Professionally, Mr. Burke is a Meteorologist with the Government Meteorological Department at the Grantley Adams International Airport.
