Mr. Craig Archer previously served as a BOA Director between 2001 and 2012 and, after a five-year hiatus, was elected to this position again in October 2017 to serve a three year term.
Mr. Archer has been a sports administrator in both Barbados and the region for over 35 years. He currently holds the position of Secretary in both the Barbados Squash Association (BSA) and the Caribbean Area Squash Association (CASA) and is the longest serving committee member on both of these organisations and has held the position of President of both of these bodies longer than anyone else. He was first elected onto the Executive Committee of the Federacion Panamericana de Squash (FPS) / Pan American Squash Federation in 2011 and is currently the Vice-President of that organisation. He is the first person from the Caribbean to be elected to that post. For over a decade he has also been a member of the World Squash Federation’s Technical Committee (which is now known as the Courts and Equipment Commission).
During his first stint on the BOA Board Mr. Archer served as Deputy Chef de Mission of the Barbados team at the 2003 Pan American Games in the Dominican Republic and was also Barbados’ Chef de Mission at both the 2006 and 2010 Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games in Cartagena, Colombia and Mayaguez, Puerto Rico respectively. He currently serves on three BOA Commissions (i.e. Building, Governance and Standards) and has previously served on the BOA’s Allocations and OS/PASO Commissions. Mr. Archer is also a certified National (A-level) Squash Referee and has officiated at elite level events such as the 2011 Men’s World Team Championships in Paderborn, Germany; the 2012 Women’s World Open Finals in the Cayman Islands and the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada. Presently he chairs the Officiating Committees of both the FPS and CASA.
Mr. Archer has been recognized by the National Sports Council on several occasions for his service in the sporting arena, including: Official Gaining International Recognition (2009) and Sports Administrator of the Year (2010). He is self-employed and is a registered Professional Civil Engineer and Construction Project Manager and currently is the acting chairman of the Engineers Registration Board of Barbados.
