General Manager, Glyne Clarke’s portfolio includes liaising with local, regional and international sport partners for advancing Olympic Sport in Barbados. He also supports the BOA’s 37 affiliated National Sport Federations in coordinating developmental and elite programmes as well as their participation at Regional, Continental and International Games.
As General Manager of the BOA Inc. Glyne has been Chef de Mission of the 2014 Barbados Youth Olympic Games Team and General Team Manager of the 2016 Barbados Olympic Games Team. He has also served on the Barbados Management Teams for Pan American and Commonwealth Games.
Glyne considers passion and dedication imperative attributes for any practitioner in sport. He believes in development of and through sport to foster growth, generate ambition and realise potential for all its participants.
A former basketballer, Glyne brings over 30 years international sport administration experience to the Barbados Olympic Association. He ardently serves as President of the Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CBC). Glyne is a member of the FIBA Americas Central Board and is Vice President of the Central American & Caribbean Basketball Confederation. His legacy in Caribbean basketball is spearheading the development of referees and basketball officiating, and streamlining the operations and structure of the CBC Championships, which he executed in his 18 years as Vice President for Technical Operations in CBC.
A former FIBA referee, Glyne is presently in the unique category of certified International FIBA Referees Instructor and Commissioner and has been inducted as an Honorary Life Member of both the Barbados Amateur Basketball Association (BABA) and the Barbados Basketball Officials Association (BARBOA).
