The Barbados Olympic Association (BOA) Inc. has a four-member team representing Barbados at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France.

SADA WILLIAMS

Women’s 400m Final

The Barbados Olympic Association (BOA) Inc. congratulates Sada Williams, who placed seventh in the 400-metre final at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France, with a time of 49.83 seconds.

Williams, 26, made Barbados proud on Wednesday, finishing third in semi-final 3 with a time of 49.89 seconds at the Stade de France, advancing to the final, which took place on Friday, August 9, at 2:00 p.m.

The Commonwealth Games gold medalist and two-time World Championships bronze medalist has joined the likes of hurdler Ryan Brathwaite and sprinter Obadele Thompson, the Sydney 2000 Olympic 100m bronze medalist, in representing the country in an Olympic final in athletics.

This is Williams’ second Olympic Games. She previously competed in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics but did not advance beyond the 400m semi-finals. In 2014, she competed in the 400m final at the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China.

JACK KIRBY

Men’s 100m Freestyle – Heat 5

The Barbados Olympic Association (BOA) congratulates swimmer Jack Kirby for his outstanding performance at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France.

Kirby, 24, made his Olympic debut representing Barbados in the Men’s 100m Freestyle event. He placed third in Heat 5, clocking a time of 50.42 seconds. Overall, Kirby placed 46th out of 79 swimmers. Kirby did not make it to the semi-finals, but his efforts were a testament to his hard work and perseverance.

The University of Southern California student entered the race with the fastest qualifying time, 49.31 seconds, which is also the Barbados national record. 

TRISTAN EVELYN

Women’s 100m – Heat 1

The Barbados Olympic Association (BOA) offers its congratulations to Tristan Evelyn on her remarkable effort in the women’s 100 metres, at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France.

Although Evelyn did not advance beyond the opening heat, her commitment to athletics has won the admiration of the entire nation. She recorded a time of 11.55 seconds for a sixth-place finish. Overall, she placed 53rd among 72 athletes, with 27 advancing to the semi-finals.

Evelyn, 26, is now a two-time Olympian, having made her debut at Tokyo 2020. She also competed in the 2014 Summer Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China.

MATTHEW WRIGHT

Men’s Triathlon

34th of 55

The Barbados Olympic Association (BOA) extends its congratulations to triathlete Matthew Wright on his impressive representation at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France.

This was the first Olympic Games for Wright, 32. He participated in the Men’s Individual Triathlon, becoming the second triathlete to represent Barbados at this level.

Wright completed the triathlon in 1 hour 49 mins 18 seconds, which comprised a 1500-metre swim, a 40-kilometre bike ride, and a 10-kilometre run. 

Overall, Wright achieved a commendable 34th place out of 55 competitors, showcasing his skill and dedication throughout the competition.
